Enough to Begin

Verse I Like:

“He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.”

— Ecclesiastes 11:4

Weekly Dose

Asking for more—when you already have what you need—is, in my experience, one of the surest ways to stall your growth.

It may not feel like disobedience. It could feel like preparation. Like caution. Like wisdom.

But I have found myself hiding behind these pursuits to masquerade the truth—I deep down have convinced myself not to act, or persuaded myself against what I know I should do.

Even though we can genuinely pursue these things, there comes a time to do what you ought to with what you are able.

And unused responsibility (and the corresponding reward) tends to get reassigned.

Quotes I Like:

“You don’t need more time. You need more focus.”

— Unknown

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

— Theodore Roosevelt

“It is not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?”

— Henry David Thoreau

Mane Message

One of the most well-known stories in the Bible is David and Goliath.

It’s often framed as a story of courage, quite rightly. David steps forward, armed with nothing but faith, to face something far greater than himself.

Yes, this is the case, but there’s another layer that often goes unnoticed.

Before David ever stepped onto that battlefield, there was someone else who already could have.

King Saul was not an ordinary man. Scripture describes him as standing a head taller than anyone else in Israel. He looked the part. He was appointed as king. He had position, authority, and the physical presence to lead.

If anyone was equipped to face Goliath, it was Saul. But he didn’t.

Instead, he hesitated. He repeatedly lacked faith.

Saul had already shown a pattern. Partial obedience, delayed obedience, and a tendency to act on his own terms rather than fully trusting what God had instructed.

So, when the moment came and when leadership was required, Saul was found unfaithful.

And someone else stepped in, who didn’t have the title, didn’t have the armor, and didn’t have the outward qualifications.

He had responsiveness, courage, and trust.

David didn’t ask for more or wait for better conditions. He moved with what he had already been given. A faith bolstered.

And the rest was history.

Hope you are having a meaningful Holy Week—take the time to remember what was done, and what it cost.
