Mastering Timing: Patience in Action and Preparation

Weekly Edition #12: April 9th, 2025

Verse I Like:

“Be patient then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near."

— James 5:7-8, NIV

Weekly Dose

A person who masters timing doesn’t simply act when the opportunity presents itself—they create the opportunity, knowing when to strike with precision. They understand that some things must be done now, others later, and some may never be worth doing at all.

How do we harness the power of timing?

First, we must learn patience. Too often, we rush to make decisions, driven by fear of missing out or a desire to get ahead. But the fiercest competitors, the ones who always seem to be in the right place at the right time, know when to wait for the perfect moment. They aren’t in a hurry—they trust the process. Timing isn’t about forcing things to happen; it’s about recognizing the natural flow and acting with confidence when the time is right.

But waiting does not mean ‘doing nothing.’ It’s about preparing in the meantime. Likewise, patience is not doing nothing—it is an act of preparation and readiness. Doing nothing is easy, but being patient is incredibly difficult.

The fiercest competitors are always ready. While others waste time, they’re building, learning, and sharpening their skills, knowing that when the right moment comes, they will be able to capitalize on it like no one else. Preparation and consistency is the foundation of perfect timing.

In the end, mastering timing is about becoming the person who creates opportunities that others only hope for. Patience is not passive; it is an active discipline. It is the commitment to doing the hard work today so that when the moment arrives, you are not only ready but poised to take action with precision.

Quotes I Like:

“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

"Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you're waiting."

— Joyce Meyer

"Perfect timing is a complete myth, but perfect preparation isn't."

— Alex Hormozi

Mane Message

The apostle Paul, formerly Saul, was a passionate and zealous preacher of the gospel. After his dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus, he spent years preparing for his ministry, traveling, teaching, and establishing churches. His ultimate goal was to reach Rome, the heart of the empire, to spread the gospel.

In Acts 21, Paul faces opposition from the Jewish leaders, who are angry about his preaching. Despite the dangers, Paul continues on his mission, trusting in God's plan. He is eventually arrested in Jerusalem, and knowing the risks to his life, he wisely claims his right as a Roman citizen to be tried in Rome rather than face a possible unfair trial in Jerusalem.

Paul’s journey to Rome is a model of patience and trust in God’s timing. Even though he faced multiple setbacks—being imprisoned, facing storms at sea, and enduring shipwrecks—he remained faithful, knowing that his ultimate mission was to bring the message of Christ to the center of the empire. In Acts 27, Paul patiently prepares the ship’s crew and passengers for a storm, demonstrating not only his leadership but his ability in preparation, even in the midst of chaos.

When Paul finally arrives in Rome, he continues to preach and teach, under house arrest, awaiting his trial before Caesar. Through his patience and unwavering trust in God, Paul ultimately fulfills his purpose of spreading the gospel, and despite many hardships, his journey is a testament to God’s perfect timing and plan.

Paul’s story teaches us that sometimes the right path is not the fastest one. It’s about trusting in God's timing, preparing for what is to come, and having the patience to wait for the opportunities to fulfill the mission we are called to. Even when the road is difficult, Paul’s journey reminds us that God’s plan is always unfolding, and through patience and preparation, we can walk in the fullness of His will.
